  • Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam inaugurates L’Attitude 13°05′ – Great Lakes annual B-school fest & the Orchid – Great Lakes Center for Excellence in Technopreneurship

    Chennai: Great Lakes Institute of Management, a leading B-school in the country, founded by Prof. Bala V Balachandran, hosted L’Attitude 13° 05′, one of the most spectacular B-school fests in the country. Former President of India, Honb’le Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam inaugurated the B-school fest and Orchid Center for Excellence in Technology, Innovation & Technopreneurship. The Presidential address was delivered by Mr. Raghavendra Rao, CMD, Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., The event was held at the LEED Platinum rated, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Manamai campus, near Chennai.

    The event was graced over by many other dignitaries from the corporate world including, Mr. Satish Pradhan, Group Head HR, Tata Sons; Mr. Firdose A Vandrevala, CMD, Hirco Developments Pvt. Ltd; Mr. Kamal P Nanavaty, President, Cracker, Polymers & Chemicals, Reliance Industries Limited; Mr. Sampath Ramesh, President & Co-founder, Meso America Inc. These icons from India Inc. provided the best mix of perspectives on major challenges facing business and industry in today’s scenario.

    The two day B-school festival – L’Attitude 13°05′, hosted by Great Lakes Institute of Management is one of the most awaited events of the academic year, which attracts the brightest minds from premier B-schools across the country. This year’s participation had, more than 15 overseas B Schools including Yale, Illinois Institute of Technology, Michigan State, Cass & others besides more than 35 Premier indian B Schools including all the IIMs, IIFT, XLRI, IITs & others . The fest is a potpourri of students, academia and industry icons. Experience and the diversity of participants provided for a great learning opportunity. The students intensely compete against other B-schools, on different aspects of the business world, being a platform for creating a great learning opportunity for all.

    This edition of the event is based on the theme, ‘3BL – People Planet Profit – Triple Bottom Line’, which will have events related to creating a fair and beneficial business practices towards labour force, ecological environment and economic value created by the organization.

    Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bala V Balachandran said, “It gives me great pleasure to announce the 4th edition of the most awaited B-school fest of Great Lakes. In this era where profitability has turned to profiteering, progress is leading to destruction (of our planet) and value systems and ethical anchoring are taking a severe beating, it appears that the onus is squarely on the people to take some action. Thus, the triple bottom-line of ‘people, planet and profit’ has become a crucial point of concern and it is a fitting and timely theme for the Great Lakes L’Attitude 13°05′.”

    Orchid Center for Excellence in Technology, Innovation & Technopreneurship is an incubator that will enable students in advancing the knowledge, know-how, exploitation of technologies, and disseminating global best practices to convert ideas into ventures and thus contribute in a significant manner in India’s tryst with destiny in reaching global economic leadership.

    The two-day festival will host a cultural evening and a live band performed by an upcoming Band from Chennai . This annual event serves as a forum for management students to exchange and develop their knowledge and skills in the field of management
