Chennai : Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals, one of Chennai’s most trusted healthcare providers, organized a Walkathon today at Elliot’s Beach, Besant Nagar, to raise awareness about kidney diseases and the risks associated with delayed diagnosis.
The event was flagged off by esteemed Chief Guests, Dr. K. Jayanth Murali, IPS (Retd.), Former DGP of Tamil Nadu, and Mrs. Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, Indian Actress and Director. Around 200 participants, including recovered kidney patients and healthcare professionals, joined the initiative to spread awareness about kidney health.
The Walkathon aimed to debunk common misconceptions such as the belief that kidney disease affects only older adults or that drinking excess water harms the kidneys. It also emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and preventive care.
Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals is one of the few hospitals in the region with a dedicated Pediatric Nephrology department, providing specialized care for children with kidney conditions.
