    Mangaldai :: Darrang Superintendent of Police, Sushanta Biswa Sarma on October 31 has inaugurated a drug de-addiction centre here at Karimchowka, ward no-6 , which is first of its kind in the district. Talking to this correspondent sidelining the opening ceremony, SP, Sarma underlined its importance from both medical and social point of view with the growing cases of drug addiction among the youths of the locality.

    He hoped that its functioning would help the police dealing with drug addicted youths in providing medical support under expert hands. The centre titled ‘Ruhani’ is aimed at offering day care medical facilities to drugs , alcohol addicted persons and people with other mental disorders will cater to the need of economically weaker section of the society in particular, stated Dr Iftikar Hussain Neuropsychiatrist and De- Addiction Specialist who had started the set up with support of his Neuropsychiatrist wife Dr Sujata Borkakoty. The inaugural function was also attended by Officer in Charge of Mangaldai Police Station Inspector Mosco Saikia and others.
