New Delhi : Two of the most popular annual activities among students of Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering, are going to be back on the University campus in the coming week. Entrepreneurship Summit-2011 (E-Summit) and Engifest (the annual cultural extravaganza of the University) are decided to be held on February 16-17 and from February 17-20, respectively this year. However, there will be a joint inauguration of both the events on February 16, 2011 at 11 am by Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister, NCT of Delhi, in the presence of Sh. Vinod Dham, Father of ‘Pentium Chip’ and distinguished alumnus of DTU (earlier DCE). E-Summit 2011 is an endeavour to encourage entrepreneurship among technocrats of tomorrow. The summit shall include leadership lectures from successful entrepreneurs as well as stalwarts of the industry including Sh. Narender Bansal, CMD, Intex Technologies (India) Ltd, Sh. Rajiv Vaid, COO, TCS, Sh. Khurshed Batliwala (Bawa), Director, WAYE & Sh. Srikant Gokhale, CEO, The Mobile Store, among others. Besides Leadership Lectures, the two-day conference will also have Business Plan Competition, Interactive Sessions, Innovation Fair, Panel Discussion and E-Pitching.
According to Mr. Anand Meena, the chief co-ordinator of E-Summit and final year student of DTU, “E-Summit will focus on new and innovative ideas, business plans and micro enterprise development. It shall not only create the urge and awareness but also the necessary environment to take innovative ideas and products to the level of commercialization.” Access details at www.esummit2011.in Engifest will be based on the theme of ‘Resurgent India’ this year, which will focus on the new and improved India. “The fest will highlight how we have retained our rich cultural heritage while gelling with the modern life. It will be a reflection of new dynamism, latest technologies and new dreams of the modern young India,” said Mr. Nikhil Maheshwari, President, Students Union, DTU. The much-awaited festival promises to offer a good mix of literary, cultural and entertaining events like Kavi Sammelan – poetry recitation, Paridhan – fashion show, Praayas – Street Play, Dirrt: Bikes Stunt Show, Spandan – Choreography Competition, Literary Events (Debate, Group Discussion) and Livewire – The Star Nite, besides new events this year like Photography exhibition and Go Karting, among others.
