EC issues a fresh notice to Kejriwal on his bribery remark

kejriwalElelction Commission has censured Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal for his allegation that BJP incited communal violence in Delhi.

In its order, the Commission said, Kejriwal’s statements have the effect of creating mutual hatred between different castes and communities and vitiating the purity of election process and disturbing level playing field.

Meanwhile, the EC issued another notice to Kejriwal for allegedly asking voters to accept bribe from other parties but to vote for the AAP.

The Commission has asked him to reply by Tuesday morning.

It said, by making such statements, the AAP leader has prima-facie repeatedly violated the Model Code.

In a public meeting early this week, Kejriwal had urged the voters to take money from the Congress and BJP but vote for his party. He had made similar statement earlier also for which the poll body had already issued notice.

The poll body said remarks amount to violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Expressing displeasure, the Commission asked him to be more careful in his public utterances in future.

Earlier in the day, in his reply to the Commission, Kejriwal had denied allegation, saying the charge against BJP was based on reliable material.

Delhi BJP Unit Chief Satish Upadhyay had filed a complaint with the poll panel in this regard.
