The Election Commission has ordered to stop online streaming of a web series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In its direction to the producers, the poll panel has cited its earlier order banning a biopic on Mr Modi, to place a similar ban on the web series titled “Modi – Journey of a Common Man”.

The poll panel also asked the producers to remove all connected content of the web series and send a compliance report immediately.

It said it is apparent that the five-episode web series showcases different phases of life of Prime Minister Modi from childhood to becoming a national leader and such content can affect the level playing field in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.
