EC to announce Presidential election schedule today

Election Commission will announce schedule of Presidential election this evening which is due later this month. The term of President Pranab Mukherjee is expiring in July. Earlier, Mr Mukherjee had indicated that he is not in the race for a second term in office.

The President and Vice-President are elected by members of both houses of parliament and those of state legislatures. No President except Dr Rajendra Prasad has had a second term.
