Efforts underway to extinguish forest fire on the border of Nagaland and Manipur states.One NDRF jawan dies

Guwahati :The forest fires in djuko valley area bordering nagaland and Manipur are yet to be controlled. The fire in Djuko Valley in Nagaland has reached jungle call Koziri in Manipur. However, an ASI of NDRF team deployed to deal with the fire in Ddico Valley has been found dead in its tent this morning.

When the fire did not stop spreading, the Air Force has now dispatched 4 more helicopters which are continuously spraying water from the Bambi bucket in the valley. In Nagaland, efforts are on to extinguish the forest fire in Kohima district. Officials said, apart from Air Force helicopters, NDRF and Forest Department teams on Sunday, policemen were also engaged in extinguishing the fire.

The fire broke out after noon on Tuesday in the Djuko range of southern Angami region. The famous tourist spot in Nagaland is located in the Djuko Valley Djuko range. Kohima District Forest Officer Rajkumar M said that Air Force aircraft flew 12 flights to extinguish the fire. He said teams of Nagaland Police, Forest Department, NDRF and SDRF are engaged in fire extinguishing. The forest official said that according to the pilots, the fire is currently under control and efforts are being made to prevent further spreading in the Djuco Valley. In order to maintain uninterrupted communication on the spot, Kohima police has set up a control room in Visvema village. “Based on the demand of the state government, the Mi5V5 helicopter of the Air Force was used near Kohima,” said Lt Col Sumit K Sharma, Public Relations Officer (Defence). The helicopter was equipped with a Bambi bucket to extinguish the fire. He said the campaign is still continuing. There is a fire in many places. It cannot be said how long the fire can be fully controlled.
