  • ASTON, MA and MANSFIELD CENTER, CT: Elevate Counseling Services , a growing practice serving the needs of clients via Telehealth and from locations in South Easton, Middleboro and Bellingham, announced today that Julia Mullin, LICSW of Mansfield Center, CT has joined the practice’s Telehealth Division.

As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Mullin’s areas of specialization will include adolescent children, adults, and older adults. Prior to joining the Elevate team, she worked in patient psychiatry at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick, MA, where she was the Lead Clinician. She worked with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients.

When the COVID-19 restrictions made in-person visits between therapists and clients difficult, Elevate Counseling Services CEO Leigh-Ann Larson worked with her team to convert their practice to a Telehealth model, and see more than 1000 clients via secure videoconferencing or telephone sessions.

Mullin earned both her graduate degree, a Masters’ in Social Work, and her undergraduate, Psychology and Early Childhood Education, from Simmons College.

She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, and participates in many of their continuing education events. The Newton, MA native enjoys spending time with friends, family, and colleagues in the social work arena. She enjoys yoga, the beach and outdoor activities.

She said, “Elevate is an amazing place to work. The clinicians are incredibly supportive of one another and are always working together to help everyone reach their goals. I enjoy our Zoom get togethers and the sense of community.”

Leigh-Ann Larson, founder and CEO of Elevate Counseling Services, said, “We are very pleased to welcome Julia to our Elevate family. She brings experience, energy and enthusiasm to our Telehealth division, and I know she will do great work with our clients.”

Under the Elevate Telehealth Division, all services that have been traditionally offered in person at the practice’s locations are available either by telephone or by videoconferencing.

Larson said that the option for online counseling will continue for those who prefer this format even after the COVID restrictions are lifted.  She said, ”During COVID all insurance companies in Massachusetts that we work are required to accept online counseling as an acceptable format. After COVID, we expect most if not all will be adding Tele MentalHealth to their covered services.”  She said that Telehealth offers clients the convenience of seeing their counselor without the need to travel to an office. Additionally, it eliminates the concerns that clients may feel about in-person visits during the times when COVID-19 has changed the way everyone lives their lives.

She mentioned that the Telehealth model offers a wide range of counseling services including couples work, family counseling, parenting issues, grief loss, and coping with anxiety. Telehealth services are conducted on a secure platform.

She added, “This pandemic has changed the delivery of health care services access the board. Many of these changes are beneficial to both health care providers and their patients. I consider the incorporation of Tele Mentalhealth Services an advancement in the field of health care that is here to stay.”
