Environment minister urges people to plant saplings

Union Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Prakash Javdekar has urged people to plant saplings in educational institutions, factories and business complexes, saying it is a great service to saving the environment. Speaking to media persons after planting a sapling at Malaviya National Institute of Technology in Jaipur this morning, he said planting more saplings is like developing oxygen bank for ourselves. He said India’s forest cover has reached 25 per cent and it needs to be taken at least 33 per cent in coming years.

Prakash Javadekar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced to generate 4.5 lakh megawatt power through unconventional sources such as solar and renewable energy, which was welcomed by many countries.
