The environment ministry has cleared eight more Coal India Limited projects that have been stalled for about a year.
The development comes close on the heels of Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh softening his stance on no go status for coal blocks falling in environmentally sensitive areas during the meeting of a Group of Ministers (GoM) on Coal last week.
Mr Ramesh also assured the GoM that he will be positive towards infrastructure projects. Our correspondent quoting sources reports, out of the seven to eight projects given the green signal by the Environment Ministry, four are in Odisha — namely the Vasundhara West, Samleswari, HBI and Delhpai projects.
