  • Envoy America and Access2Care Expand Partnership to Serve Patients with Care and Dignity

    Published on June 4, 2019

Phoenix, Arizona : Envoy America, a comprehensive program that offers transportation plus assistance and companionship for patients and seniors, announced it has expanded its partnership with AMR’s Access2Care program. Access2Care manages the transportation experience for those receiving non-emergency medical transportation. This ensures that those in need get the right services, at the right time, utilizing a large network of contracted and credentialed transportation providers in each service area.

The partnership between Access2Care and Envoy America started when Access2Care found that some of their members needed a more hands-on transportation partner who was willing to remain with them the entire time to provide basic assistance. Envoy America’s Driver Companions not only drive patients to and from their destination, but they also provide assistance at all points along the journey, including meeting patients at the door and helping them to the car, escorting patients into medical offices for appointments and more.

“Envoy America’s Driver Companions exceeded every expectation in assisting our Access2Care members to get to their essential medical appointments,” said Sven Johnson, AMR Chief Operating Officer. “Because of our shared successes and positive feedback from our members, we are looking forward to expanding this partnership to new markets.”

Currently, Access2Care partners with Envoy America in Phoenix, Tucson and Houston, scheduling Envoy America transports for its members while handling coordination issues. Under the new agreement, Access2Care will expand Envoy America’s services to new markets, starting with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“Our door-to-door model of assistance and companionship fits perfectly with Access2Care’s goals to ensure their members are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve,” said K.C. Kanaan, Chief Executive Officer of Envoy America. “We look forward to expanding our partnership to new markets across the country to ensure that those seeking medical treatment are able to get to their appointments with the assistance they need.”

Envoy America’s services, coupled with AMR’s Access2Care services, effectively creates a new category of transportation beyond the current options including scheduled ambulance transportation, wheelchair/stretcher van transportation, and taxis or rideshare services such as Lyft. Instead of the standard curbside service of other transportation companies, Envoy America offers door-to-door service where drivers are companions for their passengers and remain with them until they are back home.
