Capital MSL, the international corporate and financial communications consultancy, together with its client Essar Energy, the India-focused integrated energy company, have been rewarded for their communications work around the Essar Energy IPO by the UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).  At the CIPR’s annual Excellence Awards, the firms were named winners of the Investor Relations Award for the May 2010 London IPO of Essar Energy, when Essar Energy raised $1.9bn and subsequently entered the FTSE100.

The winners of the 2011 CIPR Excellence Awards were announced at the Excellence Awards Dinner at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on Wednesday 1 June.  This year the CIPR Excellence Awards received more than 700 entries.

“The judges felt that the agency’s understanding of emerging markets gave them a high level of credibility with both the client and all other stakeholders. This in turn enabled them to add significant value to what was a large and complex transaction. A special praise was given to the innovative and creative partnership with the London Stock Exchange.”

CIPR CEO Jane Wilson said “Winning a CIPR Excellence Award can be considered the ultimate achievement in the PR profession and worthy of the warmest of congratulations. These awards are the most demanding in the industry and set the benchmark for best practice. Competition was as fierce as ever, producing an exceptional quality of entries – outstanding, considering the economic challenges of last year.”
