  • The Finance Commission headed by Chairman N. K. Singh today held a detailed meeting with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

    HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of State for HRD Sanjay Dhotre and all senior officials of the Ministry were present.

    The meeting was called to discuss the impact of the new tools of pedagogy, including online classes and use of other technology for education

    The Commission also had a detailed discussions with the Department of School Education and Literacy and Department of Higher Education on the necessity of submission of a revised memorandum to the Finance Commission in the light of the recent developments in the sector.

    The Commission called for this meeting more specifically for the purpose of making its recommendations in its report for 2020-21 and 2025-26 on the subject of education specially in the time of COVID-19.

    The Commission also took into consideration the initiatives taken by the Central Government  related to education as part of the  Rs. 20 lakh  crore fiscal stimulus package designed to fight Economic impact of Covid-19.
