The facts surrounding child homelessness are startling. In the last 3 years, the number of families served by Family Gateway grew 750%. Each night in Dallas, an estimated 5,000 children and their families will not have a safe place to sleep. These children are at risk with their health, education, repeating the cycle and most of all at risk for no hope of a brighter future.

“The renovated Annette G. Strauss Center has provided our families with a comfortable and warm living environment conducive to recovery from the trauma they have experienced and to undertaking the difficult changes they must make in order to overcome homelessness,” stated Family Gateway Executive Director, Cathy Packard.
Family Gateway has developed an innovative and collaborative approach to serving these families and uplifting them to achieve independence, financial stability and regain their courage and pride to overcome homelessness. More than 20 nonprofit Dallas agencies work together for these families (a list of partners is here http://familygateway.org/about/partners/)
In addition to providing safe and stable housing as well as comprehensive case management, Family Gateway works with partner agencies to deliver a wide array of services to its clients, including mental and physical health care; employment readiness and job training; financial literacy classes; and educational support, such as preschool and afterschool programs, GED preparation classes, and assistance seeking higher education
