  • Fishermen killing: 2 Italian ship guards arrested

    Kochi : The Italian naval personnel Latore Massiniliano and Salvatore Girone, who were arrested on Sunday by the Kerala Police in connection with the killing of two fishermen last Wednesday, will be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Kollam today.

    The two Italian naval personnel who were arrested yesterday by the Kerala Police in Kochi will be taken to Kollam and produced before the Chief Judicial Magistate’s court there this morning.

    A murder case has been registered against them at the Neendakara Coastal Police Station for killing the fishermen, mistaking them to be pirates. Both were interrogated by the police at the CISF Guest House at Wellington Island in Kochi last evening.

    The Italian vessel Enrica Lexie, which is berthed at one of the oil tanker jetties at the Cochin Port will be taken to the outer harbor later in the day. A Coast Guard ship will guard the Italian vessel, which will be released only after completing the necessary legal procedures.
