In Assam, over 12 lakh people have been affected due to the current wave of floods in 23 districts. The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at 5 places. However, the rain has stopped this morning . Barpeta, South Salmara, Goalpara, Nalbari and Morigaon are among the worst affected districts. 25 persons have lost their lives due to floods so far . Nearly 30 thousand people are taking shelter at 144 relief camps. The surging water damaged crops, houses, infrastructures , river embankments and roads. Administration is distributing food items, water packets , bleaching powder and halogen tablets.
