Flybig starts Guwahati- Lilabari flight service

Regional carrier Flybig has launched a direct flight service between Lilabari and Guwahati. The first flybig flight arrived from the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordaloi International Airport,LGBIA Guwahati at Lilabari airport in Lakhimpur district at 4.30 pm and took off back at 5 pm. Air service was made functional by Flybig on this route under the udaan initiative connecting regional destinations.

In a press statement, Flybig CEO Sanjay Mandaviya said the airline will fly on this route four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at an all-inclusive low fare of Rs 999. The flight will leave Guwahati for Lilabari at 4 pm and leave Lilabari for Guwahati at 5 pm in these four days. He also said flybig will soon connect the entire Northeast to boost the tourism sector in the region. Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Kumar Pegu, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Barua, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka and Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Satavan travelled on the first flight from Guwahati to Lilabari.

Focused on connecting tier-2 and tier-3 cities within India, Flybig operates ATR-72 type of aircraft, offering air travel solutions aligned with the underlying travel needs and preferences in emerging cities of the country, the release said. Notably, the flight service between Lakhimpur and Guwahati from Lilabari Airport to Borkhar had been non-operational since July, 2019. During this long period, Lakhimpur was only connected with Kolkata by a flight of Air India Regional Service on a daily basis.
