Forest by Heartfulness Partners with Zscaler on Urban Forest India

Zscaler Founder & CEO Jay Chaudhry and Forest by Heartfulness Bring Nature to Urban Communities

Bangalore : Forest by Heartfulness is partnering with Zscaler™, the leader in cloud security, to plant 15,000 trees in an urban forest project. The plantation drive will benefit local communities in India where Zscaler has operations, including Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune and Mohali. Jay Chaudhry, CEO, Chairman, and Founder, Zscaler, will lay the foundation of the initiative on 5th of May, 2022 in Bangalore.

This Forest by Heartfulness Zscaler project aligns with Zscaler’s 15th anniversary, and company volunteers will be planting 15,000 saplings throughout India, continuing its history of engaging employees to give back to local communities. Zscaler recognized the opportunity to contribute a lasting impact on the environment through planting saplings of endangered indigenous flora, improving biodiversity, and ecological sustainability.

Mini-forests provide a variety of benefits including raising local water tables, reducing carbon in the atmosphere, and reconnecting people to nature. Forests by Heartfulness ensures the long-term success of projects by providing the necessary support right from providing the saplings to geotagging and ensuring nutrient management.

The 15,000 saplings will utilize the proprietary Heartyculture High-Density plantation method that involves extensive soil reconstitution through activated biochar, cow manure, cocopeat, and vermicompost. The trees selected for the plantation drive will support one another through an extensive root network.

Through the help of the Zscaler employees, the saplings will be planted mid-June with the arrival of the monsoons as the chance of plant survival and propagation is ideal during this time of the year. In Hyderabad the plantation will be located at Kanha Shanti Vanam, the global headquarters of Heartfulness. The Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune initiatives will be supported by Forests by Heartfulness, the one in Mohali will feature a collaboration with a local university.

Speaking on the initiative, Jay Chaudhry,  CEO, Chairman, and Founder at Zscaler said, “At Zscaler, we recognize the impact that we can have on the world, and that starts with our employees in the communities where we work. Growing up in the foothills of the Himalayas, the environment is near and dear to my heart, I look forward to seeing the benefits that this project will bring for the years to come.”

Mr. Kamlesh Patel (aka Daaji), President and Guide of Heartfulness said, “It has been our tireless endeavour to bring about the awareness and improve the flora for the future generations. It is encouraging to see corporates patronizing the cause of forestation. They have been keen on promulgating the green force. There is a kind of awakening on the importance of conservation of forests.  I extend congratulations to Zscaler towards coming forward for this large-scale multi-city mini-forest project marking their 15th year and for displaying their staunch support towards sustainability.”
