  • Former UP, Uttarakhand CM ND Tiwari passes away

    Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, passed away in New Delhi on Thursday after a prolonged illness. He was 93.

    He breathed his last at a private hospital.

    Narayan Dutt Tiwari served thrice as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and once Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
    He also served as Union Minister for External Affairs, Finance, Petroleum and Commerce and Industry. He also served as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

    President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have expressed grief over the demise of ND Tiwari.

    In a tweet, Mr Kovind said, as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and later Uttarakhand, he contributed much to the development and public welfare.

    The Vice President has also condoled the death of the veteran leader.

    In a tweet, Mr Modi said, ND Tiwari was a towering leader and was known for his administrative skills.

    He said that the departed leader will be remembered for his efforts towards industrial growth and working for the progress of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, a state he steered in its initial days.

    In his message, BJP President Amit Shah said, the demise of ND tiwari is an irreparable loss for Indian politics.

    Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has also expressed grief over his death.
