GUWAHATI : Four personnel including one Constable and three Home Guards were suspended and discharged respectively in West Police District, Guwahati after video footage was seen on 14-07-21 and 29-07-21 showing the personnel collecting money from trucks moving on NH-37. Upon receiving information about the clandestine activity senior police officials ordered an inquiry into the matter. Verification of the footage and further enquiries revealed the identity of the personnel. The suspension orders were issued to UBC Dulal Kumar, while HG Nasir Ali and HG Ranjit Hazarika of Garchuk PS and HG Naba Kr. Kalita of Jalukbari PS were discharged from service. How ever, Based on a specific input a naka checking was conducted at Diphu – Dhansiri road from early morning today . Accordingly a Scorpio (AS 17 D 0007)was intercepted and on thorough checking it is found that a secret chamber within fuel tank of vehicle has been made where 41 nos.of soap cases containing suspected heroin (total 532 gram) were kept concealed . Accordingly the suspected psychotropic substance were seized at PO and further investigation is going on. Apprehended persons are – Aftab Hussain S/o Lt Abdul Hasim R/o Islampur PS Ratabari Karimganj and Sabir Hussain S/o Babul Hussain R/o Arjunpur PS Patargandhi Karimganj.
