  • FreshToHome to market the Himalayan Rainbow Trout after an agreement with a Kashmiri startup

Bangalore : FreshToHome, the world’s largest fully integrated online brand in fresh fish and meat e-commerce has partnered with Zarin, a Kashmiri startup to market the Himalayan Rainbow Trout, a fish species similar to the Atlantic salmon in taste and colour.

Zarin has been formed by three students – Syed Faayiz Qadri, Rifat Amin from Kashmir and Saurav P. Satish who hails from Bengaluru. The startup was formed when the three were pursuing Naropa Fellowship on entrepreneurial leadership in Kashmir and they noticed the hurdles faced by the fish farmers in reaching the customers.

FreshToHome is known for supporting the farmers by sourcing all kinds of fish, seafood and meats directly from them. Their fresh products are available at fair market prices without any compromise on taste or quality. This enables farmers, fishermen and customers at the same time who find it difficult to make the ends meet. With the deal, FreshToHome will empower the fishermen in Kashmir to sell their produce to the other parts of the country.

Rich in protein, potassium, essential amino acids and other vitamins, the fish is initially planned to be introduced in Kerala. Other than being a sought after fish, it has a unique taste and texture, is easy to digest and very tender. These qualities make it ideal to prepare a whole variety of products.

Commenting on the development, Shan Kadavil, Co-Founder & CEO, FreshToHome said, “Apart from offering the freshest fish and meat, FreshToHome is known for a range of fish, poultry, mutton and other ready-to-cook products. To add to the exotic list of products, consistent with our 100% fresh, 0% preservatives vision, we have made an agreement with Zarin to introduce the Himalayan Rainbow trout.. Through this deal, the Himalayan delicacy, high in nutritional value, will soon be popularized and explored by fish lovers in the other parts of the world.”

To make the deal a success, Mathew Joseph, Co-founder & COO said, “Thanks to Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, who was instrumental in getting the association with Zarin, we are able to introduce this product to our discerning consumers all across India”

In the latter part of 2020, FreshToHome expanded its footprints to Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Jaipur. The company already has an active presence in the UAE and popular Indian markets including Delhi/NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
