Ganga Bhavani Vantaku from Visakhapatnam has always had a passion for learning. After completing her master’s degree in Nuclear Physics in 2015, she began teaching physics at intermediate and undergraduate levels. She loved working with her students and sharing knowledge, but life had its own plans. After getting married, Ganga took a six-year break to focus on raising her children.
Even during this period away from formal work, her curiosity never faded. While caring for her family, she started exploring web development on her own, learning the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript whenever she could find a quiet moment. It was a slow and steady process, but it kept her connected to her desire to learn and grow professionally.
As her children became more independent, Ganga felt ready to re-enter the workforce—but this time, she wanted to pursue a career in technology. That’s when she discovered Masai’s EmpowerHer program, a fully-funded initiative designed to help women transition into tech roles. The program offered a 100% scholarship, which provided Ganga with a structured way to turn her self-learning into a career.
The five-month program was intense but transformative. From the moment she joined, Ganga was inspired by the instructors, mentors, and the carefully designed curriculum. The program strengthened her foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while introducing her to modern frameworks and tools like React.js, Redux, Chakra UI, and Firebase. With steady support and encouragement from the Masai team and her peers, she gained the confidence to take on challenges she had never faced before.
The program didn’t just teach skills—it opened doors for real career opportunities. Through referrals from the program, Ganga landed an internship, marking the start of her career in tech and proving that a career gap doesn’t have to define the future.
Today, Ganga’s story stands as an example of resilience, curiosity, and dedication. Her family is proud of her achievements, and she is deeply grateful to the EmpowerHer program and the Masai team for guiding her every step of the way.
Ganga’s journey is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to start over. With the right guidance, support, and dedication, even paused ambitions can find a way to flourish.
