  • General observer assess preparedness for general election

    Haflong :  Sundarlal Seal, IAS, General Observer for Dima Hasao district, for the ensuing Lok Sabha Election for 3 – Autonomous District Parliamentary Constituency assessed the preparedness of various cells engaged during the election on Monday.

     

    As his first visit the General Observer also visited 12 numbers of polling stations. The names of the polling stations are Lower Haflong High school, Lower Haflong LP School, Sengya Sambudhan LP School, Sengya Sambudhan High school, Upper Bagetar L P School, Upper Bagetar M E School, U C Nampui memorial L P school, Fiangpui High School, Lodi ME School, Dibarai L P School and Cultural Institute Hall. He also visited two training venue at Cultural Institute hall and Dist Library Auditorium where the second phase training for the presiding officers and polling officers were being held.

     

    During the second part of the day the General Observer sat on a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa and Superintendent of Police Sreejith T in presence of the Election Officer Hemango Nobis and incharge of the strong room Sonali Hojai to discuss and access the overall preparedness of the district for the Lok Sabha Election for which the polling day is scheduled on 18th April next.

     

    He visited election branch and various cells such as control room, model code of conduct cell, election expenditure monitoring cell, media certification and monitoring certificate cell, media cell.

     

    The General observer asked the Expenditure Committee to keenly observe the election related expenditure made by the political parties and candidates in order to ensure free and fair elections besides implementation of Model Code of Conduct in letter and spirit.

     

    Meanwhile in Diphu Election office, till today two candidates namely Biren Sing Ingti representing Indian National Congress (INC) and Horen Sing Bey representing Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) have filed their nomination for 3 Autonomous Council Constituency. Last date for filing nomination is schedule till tomorrow.
