  • GILD Talent Report India – A Monthly Report on Technology Professionals and Skills Across India for June 2011

    The Gild report which is a regular monthly affair highlights the availability of technical talent in India by skill, the best educational institutions and the top employers based on GILD’s independent assessment of professionals. This report is based on assessed skills results from over 200,000 technology professionals across India.

    In its findings for the month of June GILD found that the C programming language continues to be a very popular skill among IT professionals. The most popular technology skills across India in June 2011 were:

    1.            C

    2.            Java

    3.            C++

    4.            HTML/XHTML

    5.            SQL

    6.            C#.NET

    7.            Unix

    8.            Linux

    9.            PHP

    10.          ASP.NET

    GILD ranks universities based on the performance of graduating students and graduates on the GILD Software Engineering Aptitude exam. The GILD Software Engineering Aptitude certification is a measure of the core skills essential for being successful in the field of software engineering.

    Universities are ranked based on a combination of both the median performance of their graduates and the percentage of their graduates who performed in the top quartile of the global population.

    The GILD Software Engineering Aptitude certification exams are taken by thousands of graduates globally each year. To qualify for the rankings, universities must have a statistically significant number of current students and graduates taking the exam.

    To develop this month’s list of leading institutions, GILD examined certification results from the past 3 months. To qualify for the rankings, universities must have a statistically significant number of current students and graduates taking the exam.

    The top 10 universities for June are as follows:

    1.            Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani

    2.            College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET)

    3.            Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) Solan

    4.            LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT) Jaipur

    5.            Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JUIT), Noida

    6.            Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore

    7.            National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirapalli

    GILD company rankings are based on the measurement of the quality of professionals working in the company. We rank companies based on the number of GILD certifications earned by professionals who are currently employed in the organization. To qualify for the rankings, companies must have a statistically significant number of employees taking the GILD certification exams.

    For purposes of ranking, companies are given 5 points for each gold certification held by an employee, 3 points for each silver certification and 1 point for each bronze certification. The points are then divided by the number of employees who have taken a certification exam on GILD.

    GILD metro rankings rate cities by the quality and availability of IT professionals in the metropolitan markets. For the purpose of ranking, metros earn 5 points for each gold certification held by a resident, 3 points for each silver certification and 1 point for each bronze certification. The points are then divided by the number of professionals who have taken a certification exam on GILD.
