Gleneagles Global Hospitals Donates health kits to traffic police on World Health Day

Celebrating World Health Day today, Gleneagles Global Hospitals (GGH) distributed health kits to the traffic police across the city. The donation drive was held at the office of Jt. Commissioner of Police Traffic at Lakdi-Ka-Pul. A total of 50 volunteers took part in this drive to promote the theme of #keepinghealthy.

Dr. Riyaz Khan, Cluster CEO – Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Hyderabad said, “WHO estimates that more than 13 million deaths around the world each year are due to avoidable environmental causes. The pandemic has revealed weaknesses in all areas of society and underlined the urgency of creating sustainable well-being societies committed to achieving equitable health now and for future generations without breaching ecological limits.”.

Mr. Gaurav Khurana, CEO – Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Lakdi-Ka-Pul, Hyderabad said, “Our political, social and commercial decisions are driving the climate and health crisis. Over 90% of people breathe unhealthy air resulting from burning of fossil fuels. Extreme weather events, land degradation and water scarcity are displacing people and affecting their health. Systems that produce highly processed, unhealthy foods and beverages are driving a wave of obesity, increasing cancer and heart disease while generating a third of global greenhouse gas emissions”.

Each year for this date, a theme is chosen that highlights an area of priority concern for WHO. In the face of the current pandemic, a polluted planet, and an increasing incidence of diseases, the theme for World Health Day 2022 is Our Planet, Our Health. On this day, let us all resolve to come together and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being.
