  • Global community should act unitedly against terrorism: PM

    New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that time has come for Global community to move beyond words and act unitedly against the menace of terrorism.

    Addressing the joint press conference after delegation-level talks with South Korean President Moon Jae In in Seoul, Mr. Modi said that India and Korea are committed to further strengthen bilateral and international coordination against terrorism.

    Prime Minister thanked President Moon for his support to India after Pulwama terror attack.

    He said that both the countries have also agreed for a road map in defence technology and co-production. Prime Minister invited Korean companies to invest in defence industrial corridors in India.

    Mr. Modi said that India and Korea are committed to taking the bilateral trade to 50 billion dollars by 2030.He said, both the countries have agreed to cooperate in the fields of infrastructure, port-led development, food processing and startups.

    Seven agreements were signed between the two countries including collaboration in startups, international crimes and cooperation between Prasar Bharati and Korean Broadcasting System to facilitate the broadcast of DD India Channel in South Korea and KBS World Channel in India.

    Prime Minister also received the prestigious Seoul Peace Prize – 2018 at a grand ceremony in Seoul. Conferring the honour, the award committee recognised Mr. Modi’s contribution to the growth of Indian and global economies, crediting ‘Modinomics’ for reducing social and economic disparity between the rich and the poor.

    Prime Minister announced that the Monetary award of one crore thirty lakh rupees associated with the Seoul Peace Prize will be contributed to the Namami Gange Fund.

    Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Modi said, India’s growth story is not only good for the people of India but also for the entire world. He stressed that radicalization and terrorism have become globalized and are the biggest threats to global peace and security.

    Prime Minister has since left for New Delhi.
