Global Learning Charter Public School Graduating Senior Jocelyn Kingman Awarded Jacobs Family Scholarship

NEW BEDFORD: Global Learning Charter Public School (GLCPS), a tuition-free public charter school that currently services 500 students in grades 5-12, recently announced that graduating senior Jocelyn Kingman has been awarded the Jacobs Family Scholarship .

The Jacobs Family Scholarship award is for $35,000 over four years and is awarded to a New Bedford student who is pursuing a STEAM education degree. Kingman will be attending UMass Dartmouth in the Nursing Program. She is an Honors student and participated in the Dual Enrollment program. While maintaining a busy academic schedule, she finds time to continue her love for singing, writing poetry, and playing her ukulele and saxophone. She is an active member of her community and an active participant of the UMass Dartmouth’s Leduc Center of Civic Engagement.

“We congratulate Jocelyn on earning this prestigious scholarship,” said Dr. Stephen Furtado, Executive Director of GLPCS. “Jocelyn believes that if you apply yourself and challenge yourself, you will succeed and she has proven that. We wish her continued success in her academic journey at UMass Dartmouth.”

GLCPS is currently undertaking an $8 million capital campaign to fund the renovation of a historic building located at 106 Bullard Street in New Bedford creating “One School, One Campus.”
