Global stocks today eyed a fresh record high as signs of economic recovery in China and Japan, recent strong corporate earnings and hopes of a COVID-19 vaccine bolstered investor sentiment.
Japan’s NIKKEI-225 and South Korea’s KOSPI, both surged around two percent.
Singapore’s Straits Times gained 1.4 percent, China’s Shanghai Composite index climbed 1.1 percent and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.9 percent.
European stocks were also up in intraday trade. Germany’s DAX added half a percent, London’s FTSC-100 gained 0.7 percent and France’s CAC climbed 1.2 percent.
