Mumbai : The Godrej Good and Green carnival gets bigger and better this year with The Godrej Good & Green – Employee Volunteering Week, a unique initiative that brings together the employees of Godrej to contribute to the noble cause of teaching. More than 450 employees of Godrej shall dedicate 8 hours each to shape the minds of 12,500 children from the Teach for India classrooms in different municipal schools and thus spread awareness on important environmental topics.
The week long initiative starting from today is a step ahead in the rich philanthropic legacy of the Godrej Group. The theme of the initiative is ‘Green School Action Plan’ where the employees will spread the message of greener initiatives in line with the group’s goal of greener India. The exercise which is in line with the Joy of Giving week will touch base with Teach for India classrooms in schools across 13 cities in India including Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai. The lessons driving the classrooms would be on water efficiency, water sources and conservation, energy efficiency, waste management and renewable energy. The topics will be approached through fun, creative and interactive methods which will ensure easy understanding as well as create the needed impact and awareness.

We Godrejites share a vision of going beyond business and building a more inclusive and greener India. The Employee Volunteering week is one of the first key steps towards achieving this objective. With this unique initiative we seek to bring together our employees who will positively influence young minds to be responsible towards building a greener India.”
Godrej believes in bringing about a change internally and aggressively tackling issues related to the environment, apart from dealing with them through external mediums. Godrej has planned simple yet effective activities for each day of the Employee Volunteering Week. Short campaigns like No Printout Day, Food waste tracking & cool tote are planned for the week to reduce the carbon footprints of the organization. Few of these ideas like the cool tote will be taken ahead all round the year and aims to replace 10,000 plastic bags in times to come. Godrej has also organized a Good & Green carnival in the campus which will see activities like a bake sale, workshops on making paper bags, exhibition on solar lanterns and a collection drive on behalf of Goonj at the Godrej Good & Green carnival.
Godrej has always been the epitome of compassion and holds a rich philanthropic legacy. Every year the company reaches a new high with their innovative Good & Green initiatives. The initiatives form a core pillar of the company’s business vision – Vision 2020, which believes in the philosophy of going beyond business and building a more inclusive and greener India.
