Gold climbed 165 rupees, to 20,955 rupees per ten grams at Delhi’s bullion market, on Wednesday, on buying for the ongoing marriage season. Silver spurted 1,200 rupees, to a new record high of 46,200 rupees per kilo, on strong demand from industrial units, and firm global cues.

In the global markets, gold surged more than 22 dollars, to over 1,406 dollars an ounce. Gold rose as the dollar’s retreat boosted demand for the precious metal as an alternative investment.
