    Published on October 18, 2010

With the Delhi Commonwealth Games coming to a successful completion a few days back, the government and concerned agencies are getting down to find out what went wrong in the run up to the games.

The Group of Ministers (GoM) Commonwealth Games headed by Union Urban Affairs Minister Jaipal Reddy will meet on Monday for a review. Within 24th hours of the conclusion of the Games, the Prime Minister had set up a high level probe headed by former CAG.

In the meantime the concerned agencies like CAG, CVC and the Income Tax departments have started their scrutiny.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) will start the audit work of Commonwealth Games Village from 28th October to probe allegations of financial irregularities.

Official sources said the CAG will also audit the accounts of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the expenditure incurred for building residential complexes inside the Village in addition to the alleged undue favours given to a leading real estate group, for its construction.

The audit process by CAG teams began in the middle of August. However, it was halted between 24th September and 14th October in view of the Games. The audit resumed last Friday.
