  • Govt assigns 10 sr officials to oversee preparation of CWG venues

    Government assigned 10 senior officials to oversee preparation of major venues of the event of coming Commonwealth Games.

    According to an official press release, these Officers will be deputed on part-time basis to oversee the preparations at the major Commonwealth Games venues, to solve coordination problems and bring to the notice of Secretary, Department of Sports and Cabinet Secretary for any intervention that may be required.

    However, CWG organising committee President Mr Suresh Kalmadi maintained these officers have been appointed at the request of the OC.

    The Cabinet Secretariat said in its order that the officers have been empowered to take on-the-spot decisions to tie-up any loose ends or resolve conflicts between government agencies and organisations before the games.

    10 officers are Shri Subodh Kumar, Additional Secretary, Department of Telecommunication , Shri S.R. Rao, Additional Secretary, Department of Information Techonolgy, Shri R.C. Mishra, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Shri Amarjeet Singh, Executive Director, Janasankhya Sthirata Kosh, Ministry of Health, Shri J.S. Deepak, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Shri Rohit Nandan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Shri Shashi Shekar, OSD, Power Trading Corporation Ltd., Dr. Taradatt, Joint Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, Shri Gopal Krishna, Secretary, Sports Authority of India, Shri Rajeev Kapoor, Joint Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training.

    Shri Injeti Srinivas, J.S. Ministry of Sports will look after issues of accreditation and Shri Rajeev Kapoor, J.S., Department of Personnel & Training will look after Games Village in addition to Shri J.S. Deepak, J.S., Ministry of Commerce.

    The Cabinet Secretary has made it clear that these officers may discuss with Sports Secretary when decisions have financial implications.

    The officers will be released from their additional responsibilities by 15th September, 2010 or on completion of assignments.
