New Delhi : The government is in the process of establishing nation-wide electronic network to enable people to register First Information Reports (FIR).

Replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha, Home minister P Chidambaram said Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) is under implementation. Mr Chidambaram said CCTNS will be operational by the end of this year or early next year so that people can register FIR online.
