    Published on March 22, 2019

India today said it has decided not to send any government representative to Pakistan National Day event at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi which is taking place this evening.

In reply to a media query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, this time Pakistan High Commission decided to invite Hurriyat representatives on Pakistan National Day and on that basis India decided that it will not send any representative for their reception this year.

On Pakistan’s assertions over the acquittal of four accused in Samjhauta Express case, Mr Kumar said, Pakistan has complete lack of understanding how Indian Judiciary functions. He said, the due process was followed and all witnesses were taken into account.

The spokesperson said India respects the verdict by the court in the case and instead of indulging in such accusations, Pakistan should take credible and verifiable action against terrorists.

The spokesperson said Islamabad is making unnecessary accusations just to deflect people’s attention from the main issue of terrorism.
