  • Gowri Mukherjee, Co-Founder, CreditMantri Wins Fintech Entrepreneur of the year Award at the DLAI “Women In Fintech” Awards 2019

    Mumbai : The 3rd edition of the Digital Lenders Association of India (DLAI) Conclave saw women entrepreneurs from the Fintech industry winning the “Women in Fintech” Awards which was announced on Friday night as part of the closing ceremony of the Conclave.  Co-sponsored by KapitalTech to honour women in the fintech world, the “Women in Fintech” Awards was instituted for the first time as part of the DLAI Conclave 2019.

    The winners across the various categories included: Gowri Mukherjee-Co-Founder, CreditMantri for Fintech Entrepreneur of the year Award; Radhika Binani-CPO and Sr. Director, PaisaBazaar Wins Business Leader Award; Devi Maheshwari-Head HD-FlexiLoans wins the Workplace Diversity Award and Mabel Chacko-Co-Founder and COO-Open Financials Wins Disruptor of the Year award.

     

    DLAI ‘Women in Fintech Awards’ is a formal recognition to recognise women in the fintech world, who have demonstrated excellence in the workplace. The award recognises women workers who have shown outstanding achievement in their field and companies which have shown commitment and vision on ensuring equal opportunity for diversified work force hiring.

    Speaking on the Awards, Shaily Kajaria, Co-founder and Managing Director, KapitalTech said, “Being an entrepreneur is a journey led by grit and determination for both men and women. Being a woman entrepreneur myself, I believe the path is far more challenging for women since we also have to deal with social perceptions on a day to day basis. Recognitions through forums like DLAI helps us in creating more role models for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.     Adding further, Harshvardhan Lunia, President DLAI said, “According to the World Bank Group, several studies have held that gender diversity in the boardroom leads to more efficiently and effectively run organizations, a reduced exposure to risks of corruption and fraud and, importantly, improved profit margins and return on equity. DLAI firmly believes in this ethos, and keeping the same in mind, we have in association with KapitalTech introduced the Women in Fintech Award.”

    A distinguished jury consisting of Kshama Fernandes- Managing Director and CEO, Northern Arc Capital; Smita Aggarwal- VC Investor in Fintech, Board Director in Companies, Thought Leader in financial services and Ajay Kaushal, Founder Director at BillDesk, was involved in shortlisting the finalists and choosing the winners.

    Some of the criteria based on which the finalists were selected included significance of contribution to the company’s fortunes, contribution to the business eco-system, ability to build a solid team and innovation.
