Hindi Diwas was celebrated with grandeur at Alliance University to highlight the importance of Hindi language and to make it aware of its usefulness in daily life.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anupama Tiwari, Assistant Professor – Hindi in the Department of Language and Literature of Alliance University mentioned that India is a land of diversity and Hindi is one of the most spoken languages in the country. The event was to mark the celebration of significance of the Hindi language in contemporary times while respecting the sentiments of all other linguistic groups.
Eminent personalities famous for their contribution to Hindi literature and journalism were part of the event. Neha Joshi, actress and poetess, mentioned how Hindi serials in the early eighties reached the masses through Doordarshan with beautiful stories and messages.
Raj Kishor, Editor at ABP News mentioned that language should be a medium to express emotions whether in media or journalism. Prof. Navneet Chauhan of Saradar Patel University, Gujarat, former Advisory Member of FTII Maharashtra, took part at the event and advised students on ensuring that they contribute to the growth of languages.
Renowned poetesses like Anjum Rehbar and Kavita Tiwari enthralled the participants with their beautiful recitals. Poetry hobbyist Admiral Noor who is part of the education wing of the Indian Navy had funny notes in his poetry. Similarly, Dimpy Goyal who is a Vice-President at HSBC Hyderabad presented his poems and mentioned that platforms such as these help professionals like him to express themselves.
On the second day, there were robust performances of dance, drama and poetry recited at extempore by the students and faculty. These were meant to convey social messages through the power that language bestows upon us.
The University in alignment to the vision of the National Education Policy aspires to promote regional languages. On the occasion, a quarterly e-magazine, “Anukarsh” was also launched that would curate articles in Kannada, Hindi, English and more.
