New Delhi : GS1 India, a global Standards organization, launches the ‘Smart Consumer’mobile app to empower billions of consumers with digital access to product information and connect them, directly with brand owners.The app was launched by Dr. Srikar K Reddy, Joint Secretary Ministry of Commerce and Industry, President GS1 India at New Delhi on the occasion of GS1 India Silver Jubilee Celebration.
The Smart Consumer App, powered by DataKart – the national product data repository, is a one-stop platform for consumers to access accurate, updated and complete product information, including details of manufacturer, manufacturing and expiry dates, colour, size, quantity, variant, discounts, coupons, consumer reviews, and consumer care details, etc.,on their mobile phones.
Highlighting the benefits of the app, CEO of GS1 India, S Swaminathan emphasized on how it will empower the consumers to make informed and better purchase decisions through the use of trusted product data. He also added thatthe app will enable consumers to reach to brands directly and share their feedback.
The Smart Consumer app helpsconsumers validate and authenticate product data and detect counterfeit products, thereby building trust. The app also enhances the shopping experience of consumers by giving them information on latest product launches, product promotions, and trending products, etc.
The Smart Consumer app provides a seamless shopping experience for consumers across offline and online retail channels and offers complete and trusted details on products.
