Gujarat: At least 21 people killed in bus accident

At least 21 people were killed in a bus accident in Banskantha district of Gujarat today.

The mishap took place near Trishuliya ghat near pilgrimage town Ambaji.

According to the district police, a speeding bus turned turtle during rain.

The death toll is likely to increase. Injured people have been admitted to hospitals in Palanpur.

Quoting sources, OurĀ  correspondent reports the mishap occurred when about 53 people travelling on the bus were returning to Anand district after offering prayers at Ambaji temple.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has expressed grief over the mishap and instructed the district administration to provide all possible help to the injured and the families of the deceased.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives.

In a tweet, Mr. Modi said, he is extremely pained by the loss of lives. He said, his thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief.

The Prime Minister added that the local administration is providing all possible help to the injured.

Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

Mr. Shah said, he has spoken to the state and local authorities and they are doing everything possible to help the people in need.
