  • The last Year 2020 has been dominated by worst pandemic the world has witnessed in past 100 years.

It is very well said that “it requires a brave and good heart to work good”. In 2020 , our world got badly striked by a corona virus pandemic. All the people were locked behind the doors. Well, some problems were more than that. A lot of people were fired from their jobs, they were homeless and forced to walk back towards their hometowns. It’s hard to believe that thousands of People covered thousands of kms on their feets, with their families and without having any food. At that time many warriors came in the front line to show the humanity to the society. Gurmeet singh Shunty ji,the ex general secretary of delhi sikh gurudwara committee is one of those personalities who came out of the house when everyone was locked. He was standing in the crowd to help them reach their houses and made every possible decision for them.

That was the time when a number of labourers, their children and other family members were abondened by the society but Gurmeet Ji risked his life to save theirs. It’s very hard to find such person in this crucial time when everyone put themselves First. Gurmeet Ji said “our panth has taught us the lesson of humanity and sewa, and we will continue this legacy at any cost. “

Gurmeet Ji worked without caring for himself and his family members as he Said “I consider that every citizen of our society and this country is not less than my family and I will continuously work for them no matter how hard it could be.”

It is very popular saying that when you are in trouble even your own members disown you but the persons like Gurmeet Ji taught each and every person of society that we cannot live without helping each other. If God has given you the power and resources to help others you must move forward as your one step can change anybody’s life. It was clearly seen during the pandemic when thousands of people were going towards their villages with their small children and had nothing to feed them, at that time Gurmeet Ji provided them food ,water and other necessary items which brought  beautiful smiles and tears of happiness in their eyes as they never expected that in this crucial time there could be someone who will act as a survival medium for them.

Humanity is nothing but a feeling of being connected to society and it’s people and Gurmeet Ji beautiful defined it’s defination. At this age when he was in so much risk of infection he prioritizes his Sewa (duties) first. He is an examples for each and every person who had power, resources and money but they used it for themselves and to fulfill their own wishes.

However, this is also the year which witnessed the world coming together to fight coronavirus. The year with its share of trials and tribulations threw up some exemplary work being done by organisations and individuals in this difficult time as the pandemic spread, a new breed of warriors with an indomitable spirit stood up bravely against it to take on the challenge head on. This year is dedicated to all Coronavirus warriors, who took it upon themselves to free the world from this highly infectious disease in one way or another.

If there is anything that has spread faster than the coronavirus during the pandemic, it has been the recognition of many unsung heroes like Gurmeet Ji and his supporters who continued to work day and night to save other’s lives. The Social workers like Gurmeet Ji didn’t even meet their family members for months, for their Safety and some even spend nights in their vehicles to assure that the virus doesn’t spread further. These are the people who are helping in restoring humanity’s faith by coming up with novel ideas and great work.

During pandemic months the Kindness was sprouted in various hues, shades, and formats from many quarters, known and unknown. We only thanked our frontline workers but there are many other people like Gurmeet Ji who need our appreciation to maintain the chain of selfless service.
