  • Guru Shishya Parampara Award presented to Padmashri Dr. Sobha Naidu and Disciple Usha Vinod

    Hyderabad : City’s Rockwell International School celebrated its Second Annual Day with great pomp and fervor. On the occasion of its annual day, Rock wellthe school presented the Guru Shishya Parampara Award which is given to the most deserving and inspiring Guru-Shishya duo in different fields every year. For this year the award was presented Padmashri Dr. Sobha Naidu, Principal, Kuchipudi Art Academy and Shishya Ms. Usha Vinod, Kuchipudi Dancer & Teacher in a function held on Friday at Shilpakala Vedika, Madhapur.

    Mr. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Infotech Enterprises graced the function as a Chief Guest and presented the award.

    The Guru Shishya Parampara Award has been initiated to revive the lost bond of Guru Shishya. The Guru-Shishya parampara is sacred and signifies the eternal bond between a teacher and a student. The Guru Shishya Award is aimed at reinstating this sacred relationship in the consciousness of modern society to keep this eternal tradition alive for generations to come informed Mr. Subash Boda, the young Chairman and Managing Director of Rockwell International School. The Rockwell International School wants to revive this long ignored tradition and hence has initiated the award.

    The award was instituted last year and was presented to Guru-Shishya duo of Badminton Champion Pullela Gopichand and P.V. Sindhu, National Badminton Player.

    On the occasion Mrs. Manija Subrahmanyam, Principal gave the School Report. Students were also given away awards such as Highest Attendance Award, Most Expressive Student Awards, Avid Reader of the Year Award, etc.

    The evening saw wonderful performances by the students dressed in colourful dresses.

    The program began with Ganesh Vandana by Primary Grade Children followed by other programmes such as ‘If you are Happy’ by Nursery Kids, ‘Ko Ko Zambo’ by PP1 Kids, ‘I like to move it’ by PP1 Kids, ‘Cha Cha Dance’ by PP2 Kids, ‘Salsa’ by Grade 1 Kids, Choir by students of Grades 3 to 7 along with Teachers, ‘Enchanting Woods’ – Peacock Dance by Grade 2 students, ‘Twelve Angry Pigs’ Drama by Primary Grades, ‘Dashvtar’ – Odissi Dance by Grades 6 and 7, Bhangra Dance by Primary Grades and the Grand Finale which had students of all the grades coming together and performing on stage.

    Nursery students, PP1 and PP2 kids won the hearts of the audience with their dazzling dance and great energy. Performances by the cute tiny tots got a lot of appreciation from the crowds.
