Bengaluru : Twenty government medical institutions comprising 18 hospitals and two COVID-19 Care Centres in Bengaluru received specialised medical equipment as part of the Road to Recovery 2.0: COVID-19 campaign of Habitat for Humanity India, a nonprofit housing organisation.
Supported by Lowe’s through a grant of INR 7,45,05,750 (USD 1,000,000), this initiative aims to augment the infrastructure of 20 medical institutions in Bengaluru, enabling them to provide essential medical care to the marginalized people and their families. In the first phase, Habitat for Humanity India provided PPE kits, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, digital thermometers, pulse oximeters, N-95 masks and semi-fowler beds with mattresses, pillows, pillow covers, bedsheets and blankets to the medical institutions. In phase two, onsite oxygen generators, nebulisers, ECG machines, ICU para monitors, portable x-ray machines have been provided to augment the capacity of the hospitals.

Through this collaboration with Habitat for Humanity India, our aim is to provide swift relief measures in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, including medical assistance to government hospitals in Karnataka, in the most efficient way,” said Mr. Ankur Mittal, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Lowe’s India.

The collaboration with Lowe’s only reiterates our commitment to bolster the critical care competencies of general healthcare facilities of government hospitals in Bengaluru. This will help us place families affected by COVID-19 on a road to recovery,” stated Dr. Rajan Samuel, Managing Director, Habitat for Humanity India.
Following 20 medical institutions have been provided specialized medical equipment in association with the Karnataka State COVID Relief Task Force and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike: Dr. Babu Jagajeevanram General Hospital; J.J.J. Nagar Referral Hospital; Govindarajnagar Referral Hospital, Hosahalli; Srirampura Referral Hospital; Banashankari Referral Hospital; H. Siddaiah Road Referral Hospital; Ulsoor Referral Hospital; K. C. General Hospital; Yelahanka General Hospital; Anekal General Hospital; C.V. Raman Nagar General Hospital; Bowring Hospital; Victoria General Hospital; Jayanagar General Hospital; Community Health Centre Kaggalipura; Moodapalya Maternity Home; K. G. Halli Community Health Centre; Kengeri Community Health Centre as well as Haj Bhavan COVID-19 Care Centre and COVID-19 Care Centre K. R. Market.
Since March 2020, Habitat India has served 16,62,414 people through its Road to Recovery programmatic strategy, by supporting the vulnerable communities with hygiene kits, family essential kits, conditional cash transfers, behavior change communication and by setting up Habitat Care Centres.
