Haflong : Haflong MLA Nandita Gorlosa inaugurated a three days vocational training program under Horticulture discipline on the technical topic on “Horticulture Nursery Management” organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dima Hasao (under Keshav Smarak Nyas) under the course directorship of Miss Parkey Gogoi( KVK Scientist – Horticulture) on Monday .
At the beginning program was inaugurated with lighting the lamp by Chief Guest Smti Nandita Gorlosa, MLA 16-Haflong (ST) Constituency, in presence of Guest of Honour Mr Somendra Longmailai, Chief Trustee – Keshav Smarak Nyas (NGO) –Haflong and Distinguished Guest, Mr Jevin Changsan –SDAO-Department of Agriculture, Dima Hasao.
The main objective of the training program is to make district farmer well aware and technically skilled about the Horticulture Nursery Management along with its relevant Agri-allied sectors which includes Animal Science, Plant Protection, Agricultural Extension, Home Science and Fisheries Science. The Hon’ble MLA urged the farmers to take up Entrepreneurships in Horticulture and allied sectors, keeping in pace along with tourism development in the district. She also emphasized on forming Farmers Producer Companies (FPC) for export of organic Horticultural produce in order to uplift the farmer’s economy. Miss Rashmita Saikia (Senior Scientist & Head –In charge) brief the mandates activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dima Hasao. During the entire training program there will be technical presentations by different resource persons (Mr Ilius Hussain Siddique-Sr. ADO, Mrs Sita Chetry, Extension Inspector –Coffee Board and KVK-Scientists – (Dr Shankar Hemanta Gogoi- Plant Protection, Dr N. Manoranjan Singh- Animal Science, Miss Rashmita Saikia –Agricultural Extension, Miss Parkey Gogoi-Horticulture, Miss Sonia Langthasa- Home Science and Mr Kabin Medhi –Fisheries Science.).
There were all together 40 numbers of trainees who attended the programme. On this special training program, a technical training manual on “Horticulture Nursery Management for Entrepreneurship Development & Rural employment” was released in the gracious presence of all the delegates during this three days training from October 4 to October 6.
Dr N. Manoranjan Singh (Programme Asst.-Animal Science) addressed the gathering with a warm welcome speech. And all the guests and dignitaries were felicitated by the officials of KVK, Haflong.
