  • HCL Foundation Scales Up Its Healthcare Solutions for Underserved Communities in Rural Uttar Pradesh

    ~Signs MoU with SAMRIDH~

    Noida : HCL Foundation’s flagship program HCL Samuday, today announced its partnership with SAMRIDH (Sustainable Access to Markets and Resources for Innovative Delivery of Healthcare) to scale up its existing healthcare interventions in Uttar Pradesh. Through this collaboration, HCL Samuday will provide access to affordable and tech-enabled healthcare solutions to the most vulnerable populations in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. SAMRIDH is an innovative financing platform supported by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by IPE Global.

    Established in 2015, HCL Samuday has a wealth of experience in supporting preventive, promotive and curative health services. Through this partnership, HCL Samuday will be able to scale up its existing healthcare solutions and will cover themes like:

    • Mother and child health services by upgrading defunct primary health centres to provide institutional delivery services
    • Digital health including telemedicine
    • Training and skilling health workers
    • Combating malnutrition by training Aanganwadi workers in areas like child malnutrition, adolescent health, anaemia reduction
    • Healthcare infrastructure improvement and systems strengthening: setting-up Telemedicine centres that provide diagnostic and specialist consultation services
    • COVID-19 relief by installing oxygen plants and providing PPE kits

    Commenting on the partnership, Alok Varma, Project Director, HCL Foundation, said, “HCL Samuday through its holistic rural development model has already reached 1300 villages in Uttar Pradesh. We are pleased to partner with SAMRIDH to enhance the impact of our existing healthcare interventions, specifically in digital health and malnutrition. With this partnership, we will be able to drive accelerated impact in the communities we work with.”

    Dr. Ashish Mendhi, Project Director, SAMRIDH Technical Support Unit at IPE Global said, “We are pleased to partner with HCL Foundation to advance a shared vision of building a sustainable and integrated health system for India. Together, we will provide catalytic capital to healthcare enterprises for scaling-up technology-led health solutions such as AI-enabled point-of-care screening, patient data management and telehealth infrastructure.”

    During the past six years, HCL Samuday has created a model of integrated and sustainable village development focused on six core areas – Agriculture, Education, Health, Environment, Livelihood, and WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene). It works with local communities to identify problems, co-create solutions, and then implement them with professional support, thereby, lending the dimension of sustainability and ownership to the overall development agenda. Samuday has positively impacted over 9 lakh individuals in more than 165,000 households from 287 Gram Panchayats. As part of its healthcare interventions, HCL Samuday has implemented various projects including 13 telemedicine centres and six mobile health clinics for the benefit of the underprivileged. Services from these centres and clinics have helped over 1.3 lakh individuals in the district.
