    Published on March 7, 2011

New Delhi : On the occasion of Dentist’s Day, HealthLine 24×7 – India’s first phone-based and web-based healthcare information assistance service today kick-started ‘Dental Month’ that seeks to prevent the development of oral disease through education and proactive dental hygiene care.

Under this initiative, HealthLine 24×7 would promote awareness and education among masses about dental problems and diseases by offering free dental check-ups over phone in 5 cities namely Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. The project also aims to improve lives of people free from dental problems.

According to a recent study, nearly 80% of the population in Delhi alone suffers from various dental ailments. 95% of these dental problems are curable, if we take the right step at the right time. A survey across over 200 cities further revealed that major cause of dental problems in India is low awareness and poor oral hygiene factors. Majority of the population is not even aware of many common oral diseases, like bad breath. A very small percentage of India’s population visits a dentist regularly. Though a majority of dental problems are curable, however the severity of problem increases if corrective steps are not taken at initial stages. It is advisable to visit a dentist every 6 months.

With the help of 100 reliable dentists in each of the five cities, HealthLine 24×7 promises to be a revolutionary attempt to make India a dental disease-free country.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Pankaj Vaish, President, Religare Technologies said, “There is an urgent need for a comprehensive and focused plan for dental care awareness in India. At present in India about 50% of schoolchildren are suffering from Dental caries and more than 90% of adults are having periodontal diseases and this number is expected to rise even further if we do not take measures to prevent it. This free Dental check-up campaign is part of our initiative to encourage the community to look after their dental health and visit the nearest doctors for regular checks for any kind of potential dental problems and diseases like plaque, tartar and cavity.”

To avail free dental service, call 33006666 between 6th March 2011 & 6th April 2011 and consult medical experts.
