  • Heavy rains continued to lash the national capital on Monday, resulting in waterlogging and traffic snarls at several places across the city.
    The Met office said the city received 18 mm of rainfall between 8:30 AM on Sunday and 8:30 AM on Monday.
    The rains brought with it the usual problems of waterlogging and traffic snarls.
    Traffic jams were reported from various areas including ITO, Ashram Chowk, Mathura Road, Badarpur, Nizamuddin, Green Park, Laxmi Nagar etc.
    The traffic moved at snail’s pace near Badarpur Border, Vikas Marg, Connaught Place, South Extension, Dhaula Kuan, Karol Bagh and Mehrauli.
    The minimum temperature was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius, the Met office said, predicting more rains in the next couple of days.
    The incessant rains also resulted in the water level of river Yamuna reaching close to the danger mark of 204.83 metres.
    “The water level has reached 204.80 metre at 9 AM. It may go up soon as Haryana had released almost 47,000 cusecs of water last evening which may reach the city today,” said an official of flood control department on Monday.
    The water level in the river had touched 205.92 metres on 25th August.
