  • Heavy rains lash national capital, traffic disrupted

    Published on July 31, 2010

Heavy rains lashed Delhi Saturday morning, bringing much-needed relief to residents from the high humidity, but commuters had a tough time as waterlogging in many areas led to traffic snarls.

The showers led to traffic jams on the BRT corridor, Sheikh Sarai, Chirag Delhi, Anzal Plaza, Siri Fort, Mehrauli, Lajpat Nagar, Raja Garden, Ashram and Mongolpuri among other localities.

The rains also uprooted trees in many areas.

The minimum temperature recorded was 27.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

So far, the city has received a total 242.2 mm of rains after the monsoon touched the capital on 5th July.
