The JMM-Congress-RJD Alliance is set to form the new government in Jharkhand. The alliance has won 47 seats out of 81 assembly seats. The BJP got 25 seats.
The JMM legislature party is meeting today in Ranchi to elect its leader. This meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the party President Shibu Soren.
JMM Executive President Hemant Soren is set to be elected as its legislature party leader.
Congress legislature party will be also meet today to elect its leader. A meeting of Grand Alliance partners is likely to take place today where Hemant Soren will be elected as leader of the coalition.
The JMM bagged 30 and the Congress 16 seats. On the other hand, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and AJSU have won 3 and 2 seats respectively.
While RJD, NCP and CPI-ML have bagged 1 seat each. Two independent candidates were also elected.
Senior BJP Leader and Chief Minister Raghubar Das lost elections from Jamshedpur East seat. Polling for the 81-member State Assembly took place in five phases between 30th of November and 20th of December.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das submitted his resignation to Governor Draupadi Murmu.
The Governor has asked Mr Das to continue as caretaker Chief Minister till the new government is formed Talking to reporters, he welcomed the people’s verdict.
