HeroBangalore : Riding on strong retail sales and improved market sentiment, the market leader Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL) today reported a robust 16 per cent growth in despatch sales in the month of September.

Hero MotoCorp despatched 468,670 units of two-wheelers in the month of September 2013, compared to 4,04,787 units despatched in the corresponding month the previous year – thereby registering a robust growth of 15.8 per cent.

Hero MotoCorp – the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer – has notched up sales of 14,16,211 units in the second quarter (July-September) of FY14 – 6.3 per cent higher than 13,32,805 units sold in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp Ltd, said, “Our performance in September is a result of the strong retail growth we have reported throughout the first half of this financial year. Our 16% growth in despatch sales in September has come on the back of a consistent 7% growth in our retails this year. This has been helped by strong performance of our models and our customer–friendly corporate initiatives such as the 5-year warranty across our range and ‘Hero Mileage’ – the promise of extra kilometers per litre. With a slew of new offerings that we have planned, we enter the festive season with optimism and confidence.”

In the month of September, Hero MotoCorp commenced construction of its Centre of Global Innovation and Research & Design (R&D) at Kukas, on the outskirts of Jaipur in Rajasthan, with an investment of Rs 450 crore. This facility will be ready for operations by the first quarter of calendar year 2015.

Hero MotoCorp has also been investing consistently in its brand-building initiatives. Close on the heels of the highly-popular campaign to celebrate the landmark cumulative production of 50 million two-wheelers, the company launched a new campaign in September, titled “Hero Mileage”, which beautifully conveys the role that “Hero Mileage” plays in our day-to-day life. It lets us celebrate large distances without worrying too much about mileage with the expression: “Jis desh mein thoda thoda nahi hota, uss desh ke liye Hero Mileage… thoda extra kilometers per litre”.
