  • High level team of Assam Agriculture department visited government seed farm in Darrang

    MANGALDAI :: A high level team of the state agriculture department led by its additional chief secretary and agriculture commissioner,Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani on March 31 has visited the government seed farm located at Dalgaon in Darrang district and took stock of its present status. Speaking on the occasion Dr Bhutani laid stress on developing as an ideal seed farm of the state and produce quality seeds for the augmentation of state agriculture sector.

    He hoped that the farm spread over an area of around 126 hectares will not fulfill the demand of quality seeds of the farmers of Darrang district but also for the whole farmers of the state.

    The additional chief secretary also visited the demonstration sites of different crops and vegetables inside the farm. Gunajit Kashyap, MD, Assam Seed Corporation Limited (ASCL); T B Borah, Director, Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam; Mowsam Hazarika, Director, Assam Seed and Organic Certification Agency(ASOCA); Munindra Nath Ngatey, DC, Darrang and several senior officials from ASCL, ASOCA, Department of Agriculture, Assam and APART have accompanied him during his day long visit to the one of the biggest government seed farms of the state. Rupli Bora, district agriculture media expert further informed that knowledge partners of APART namely – IRRI, International Potato Center, World Vegetable Center, & DRMR were also present during the visit.
